Ackworth, Wentbridge, Kirk Smeaton (Lunch Stop), Ackworth

Modified route to avoid the A1 crossing

Weather: Heavy rain and Gales in the morning. Marginally better in the afternoon

"THE MYRTLE MEANDER" - Saturday 26th February 2000

Distance 24 miles Starting 8:30 from Bingley then via Norr Hill, Egypt, Pineberry Inn, Ogden, Oxenhope, Haworth, Harden and back to Bingley

Weather: Dry all day. Windy on the Tops

"RON & ALAN'S Birthday Boys Walk" - Saturday 1st April 2000

Shawl Walk around Leyburn with the pub stop at Coverbridge.

Walkers: Ron (Leader), Alan E, Alan J, Neil, Bernard & Clifford (Guest appearances from Jim and Roger at the Coverbridge Inn)

Weather: Fine calm morning, slightly overcast after the pub stop

"PAUL'S PLOD" - Monday 1st May 2000

Distance 17 miles - Circular walk from Shadwell, variable start between 8 & 9am (optional 25 route)

Left 8:30 from Shadwell, then via Harewood, Kearby, Sicklinghall, East Keswick (Lunch Stop), Bardsey, Thorner and back to Shadwell  -  Completed in 7hrs 15mins.

Weather: Sunny and hot all day.

"BANK HOLIDAY WALK" - Monday 29th May 2000

Pateley Bridge, Middlesmoor (Lunch Stop), Lofthouse and back to Pateley Bridge

Walkers:  Alan E, Neil and Ron - plus Alan J and Bernard from Middlesmoor

Distance:  18 miles approx     Weather: Bright and Sunny all day except rain whilst in the pub at Middlesmoor

   


"BERNARD'S LONG MARSTON WALK" - Sunday 18th June 2000

Long Marston, Healaugh, Wighill, Bilton in Ainsty (Chequers - Lunch Stop), Tockwith (Boot & Shoe), and back to Long Marston.

Walkers:  Bernard (Leader!!!!), Alan J, Neil & Alan E

Distance:  10.5 miles    Weather: Scorching Sun all day

Ron's Walk: Start at Bawith House, Stockbeck Moor, Carlsmoor, Dallow Gill, Dallow, Black Hill, Eavestone Lake, Grantley (Grantley Arms - Lunch Stop), Belford & Bagwithwith House

Distance: 15Mls Weather: Hot & Very Sunny all day


HADRIAN'S WALL WALKING WEEKEND - Thurs 5th to Sat 7th October 2000

An educational walk for some 15miles along the wall and visiting local museums and forts

"THE NEWTONDALE TRAIL" - Saturday 28th October 2000

18 Miles from Pickering to Grosmont, via Goathland.  Enjoyable lunch stop at "The Birch Hall Inn" Beck Hole. Train back to Pickering

Walkers: Ron, Neil, Alan E, Jonathon (Part-Time), Colin, (Colin's Brother-in-Law & Son), 

Weather: Very wet after the first hour - Driving rain across the moors


"THE ABERFORD AMBLE" - Thursday 28th December 2000

12 Miles from Aberford, via "The Greyhound" at Saxton, "The Ash Tree" at Barkston Ash (Lunch Stop), the "Crooked Billet" and then back to the "Spotted Ox" at Tockwith, for soup and sandwiches courtesy of Jim.

14 Walkers: Alan J, Stuart J, Bernard, Paul, Jonathon, Tiff, Ron, Clifford, Tom, Raymond, Neil, Mark, Alan E & Colin.   Guest appearances from Bazza at the Ash Tree and Jim at the Spotted Ox

Weather: Very Cold, light snow, ground frozen hard.
